I've never heard of the maker or that store, but hand-carved and all ebony for that price seems way too good to be true.

"Hand carved," "solid wood," and from a music store for the equivalent of $1036?

Check out the threads here that discuss the perils of really cheap "carved" basses. You'd be far, far, better off with an instrument having a good reputation purchased from a trusted real bass shop.

I don't get the "3001", but how big are you? You might be better off starting off with a 1/2 or 5/8 size bass. Despite the impression the name might lend, 3/4 is not a student size. Many (or possibly most) adult pros play a 3/4. At any rate, a bass you buy from any big commercial firm (for any price) will need some real setup work by a skilled shop to become truly playable. There's no getting around that, so factor it into your decision. Still sounds like a good deal though!

I do not know too much about the bass, but the 3d interactive movie is pretty cool.

solid wood bass

"solid wood" means laminated generally and I suppose the scroll is "hand carved". It does not claim to be "fully carved" which is the usual terminology for a non-laminated bass.

Bingo! A real bass shop wouldn't keep you guessing or worse, mislead you. It could also be a non-laminate where there's simply no real graduating, etc.

I missed that signature? When did that appear? Care to explain, that_fella? That's an extremely bigoted, divisive, ignorant, insensitive, and cruel thought-- besides being historically absurd.

Holy ****!
I hope there's some kind of ugly misunderstanding here. I doubt it though because Barron alluded to it.
that_fella, I'm sure I speak for all of us in this community when I say...you're not welcome here.

Good riddance.

Nice work, pointing out the hideous bigotry, Barron and the gang. There is neither room nor tolerance for that here.

That said, I have to hope that the OP will come back, with a broadened world view and heightened awareness. Good for him for editing his signature. Its a small start. At least he can see that it was harmful, hateful, and wrong, in every way.

IMHO, he is welcome here, but his racism is not. I condemn the action, not the person.

I did many thoughtless, inane things as a young, self-centered youth. Not racist things, but wrong, nonetheless.

At 14, he is but a callow kid. Unfortunately, so were the Hitler's Youth.

Hopefully, he can learn from this. Music is not about hate, IMHO. Leave it at the door, please.

Newsflash to the OP: there is no "us" and "them," we are all "us."

Gentlemen;

Mindful that I am very much a "newbie" on this board I have no wish to speak out of turn.

And I certainly will not defend the indefensible. There is no place for that sort of bigotry. End of.

But... if the OP really is a boy of 14, would the appropriate response not be to make it absolutely clear to him that words or statements of that kind are unacceptable and that any repetition will not be tolerated?

Those who say "good riddance" - did you never do or say anything to be ashamed of at 14? If you didn't, you're better men than I.

This is just my view, and again I am sorry if I speak out of turn, but IMHO the best way for the young to learn what behaviour is acceptable and what is not is in sensible adult company. I hope the OP has learned a lesson.

Adrian
