Thanks, friends. I appreciate all the nice comments. And I offer congrats to my colleague Seth Kimmel for his Silver medal, also to Sergio Scaramelli for his certificate of workmanship. And to my friend Sue Lipkins for her Gold medal bow!

You should contact Arnold directly for this information. He's in the same range as other contemporary makers. Worth every penny.

Most current top luthiers start around $18k-20k and go up from there. A lot of things will affect the price.

I've no doubt he's awesome- I've heard plenty of people say his basses are awesome, I plan on checking them out at ISB this spring- I was just curious about price range, is all- I'm not looking to specifically buy this bass.

I've looked at a few places, and that's about what they charge (maybe a little low at a few I've been to), but that's the range I'm shopping in. Thanks.

CONGRATULATIONS! ...and?

QUOTE "I'm happy to report that the re-formulated Pirastro Passiones are a winner." Any comments on "re-formulated"? Was the "Passione" a bass string name from the past? (when?) ...or has it recently been re-formulated? Any other "history"?

Thanks and Congratulations Arnold!

It's just a decorum thing. Some makers are happy to throw numbers around online, but the same question has been publicly asked of Arnold here before and he's always requested to be contacted directly. Up to him, of course.

The thing that's so cool about Arnold's work is that he refuses to be pigeon-holed. He knows the Violin Society will love a violin-shaped inside-the-box model so that what he delivered for that venue. But this is also the artist who brought us the lopsided 'Ergonomic' model. And he was a pioneer in delivering the modern top-quality laminate bass.

No moss growin' around Arnold! Boo-yah!

I was unaware. Most of the makers/shops I've dealt with have been fine throwing out prices. My apologies.

Thanks and Congratulations Arnold!
I agree Arnold is the man....
but re the Passione what is the detail of the re-formulated deal?
What difference and how do we know if we are getting the new improved version when buying?
