Artiste Basses - have they aged well or badly?

Hi all,

Another question in my newbie search; are their any Artiste DB users out there still? Previous threads seems to suggest they were a nice bass when available in Australia about 7 years ago-ish; has time proven this still correct, or did they age badly?

I'd also be interested to hear of any experiences with the SB-100.

Thanks!

I still have mine and it's fine, I got the 4/4 size. I like the bass it's freakn' loud acoustic. It's a good workhorse bass.

I don't have any info on the Artiste but I can vouch for the Shen basses. The SB 80 - 90 - 100 are all great for the money. They are built well, a solid bass that holds up like a plywood should. I love my SB90 and SB180.

Danke!

Thanks mav, Gary,

Appreciate the responses; I was looking at one on eBay, but it turns out it was only half size; am looking for 3/4 or even 4/4.

Actually, mav, the SB-100 I was referring to was an Artiste model, although I've heard good things about the Shen of the same number, too. Unfortunately, I don't think they're available in Australia...

Cheers!

Steve Swan might ship over there? Google his name and also under Shen basses. His email is there on the opening page.

Ooops...

Hi mav,

Sorry, I should have addressed my comment re Shen vs Artiste to Gary, not you! Serves me right for posting late at night (or early in the morning, depending on your point of view...). Duh.

Mmm, I'm sure they're good, but I might as well sink the shipping cost into a local bass from interstate; what I'd save on international shipping, I could put into the bass itself...

Thanx heaps, tho'!
