do ribs get deeper in the upper bout before the break angle? let this be a testiment for the mold vs. workboard argument.

It may well be made that way on purpose to make it look much older than it actually is

My bet as well. You see a lot of Hungarian basses like this (with strange dimensions) here in Germany. Some of them actually sound really good, but of course not all!

It looks authentic to me. i would think it would at least be a carved bass. Anyways its cheap for a bass like that.

All I can ascertain from my seat is that it's brown and bass-shaped (albeit asymmetrically so...)

At least the infamous Batchelder was vouched for by people who knew it firsthand...

Great, (although slow going since I only get 1-2 weekends a month to work on it). We did a test steam bend of a smaller section of plywood last weekend, and it worked. A couple of parameters are different so I'm not sure if it will work for the top quite the same, until we try it, but I'm encouraged.

I'll be doing the top either this weekend or next.

I'll be taking pictures and posting an update in the other thread after the next step. I'll include the details of the process, and whether it works or not. :-)
