Bass Appraisal

Hello:

I am looking to sell my Upright Bass, which is a Shen Willow B200 3/4 bass. I am trying to figure out a good asking price for the instrument, which isn't difficult to do for the basic characteristics of the instrument, however the bass was also played, autographed and dated by Christian McBride and I'm curious if this will increase or decrease the base value of the bass. Can you offer any insight into this?

Thanks.

I'd check in w/any of the major URB vendors like Upton or Steve Swan out here in SF.

Probobly depends on where the signature is. If it is a big mark on the front of the bass, it might drive some people away who think it would look unproffesional but if someone is a bog fan it could add. Is it signed for you or is it just the signature? I would never purchase an item that is signed for somebody else, there name on my bass would be wierd to me. Either way, those basses usually sell for $3-4 thousand depending on where your located, it's all about what the buyer looks at it as. I would personally probobly list it a little high obo and if the signature bothered a seriouse buyer I would come down. Just my opinion, but I may be wrong, I don't even know who that is to tell you the truth! Haha

CHRISTHENSOMENUMBERS - this doesn't surprise me ar all.

SHADOWFACTS - since Christian is still alive and since they are still making Shen Willow B200s (because if I wanted one of those, I could buy one brand new and get him to sign it), I don't think Chris' signature is gonna add anything to the value. If it were signed by Oscar Pettiford, THAT would be worth something.

If the signature is done in something that's gonna last, in a a hundred years or so it'll add to the price...
