rent a bass..

I have only seen the rentals at the studios themselves... but it may be possible, renting a sound system is not so big a deal.

What are you looking for???

Sheesh, I don't often send folks down the street to the competition, but here I go.

On 2xbasslist (which is an old-fashioned e-mail based listserv; you have to subscribe), there's a fairly active contributor named Brent Nussey. He's based in Japan and would probably help you out with info if you asked nice.

You can find the instruction for subscribing to 2xbasslist here.

You'd better contact with Yamamoto and/or Takasaki, both are reputable bass shops in Tokyo. They are taking care of many foreign professional bassists in classical and jazz fields.

Their contacts are;
Yamamoto: mail@yamamoto-bass.com
Takasaki: contact@contrabass.co.jp

Hope it helps.
