Bass players in the UK

I have a friend in London who's looking for an upright over there. She runs a recording studio and she want's a bass for the studio. She likes the Idea of an old Kay etc...but I doubt there very plentiful in England. Any suggestions on where she good find a decent 3/4 bass at a good price would be appreciated....

There is a forum full of UK double bassists here. They are a friendly bunch and you will be able to find plenty of information there.

From what I understand, high quality plywood basses are much more difficult to find here than in the US. Stentors are decent student-level basses and you can find nice deals on them second-hand once every so often. They are carved, though.
