In Long Beach, the World of Strings. Ask for the owner, John Peterson. 562-599-3913.

In Los Angeles, Los Angeles Bassworks. Lisa Gass, Owner. 323-953-5122

John has a bigger shop and has more basses for sale than Lisa does. Both do excellent repair and setup work.

Stein

Gary at Stein On Vine is great. He's been nothing but gold to me. I get all my work done there and bought my last bass through him. He's an incredible resource.

I think Jerry at Lemur Music would also be a good source, he has double basse in all sizes and price ranges. The number isl 1-800 246-BASS. Good luck!

Lisa just moved to a new location (possibly bigger) and has my hands down vote for best bass shop in L.A.

Though Jon has an excellent reputation, don't expect swift service at World of Strings. I'd hope to be able to tell you that I'm very satisfied with results, but I can't because my bass is still in his shop

I agree with Ben

Lisa's new shop is awesome and she hands down does the best job, quickly, and for a fair price.
Ben, have you been to the new shop?
We miss you at usc!! And congrats on the Grand Rapids job

Lemur is not usally open on Saturdays. Better check with Jerry or his staff before you brave the Orange County traffic and find the doors locked.
