bass tuner adapter

I am rehearsing in an orchestra and the principal bass player has a tuner that is an adapter. Its basically a clip that you attach onto the bridge and he can plug it into any tuner. Since I already have a tuner for my electric bass this is very handy for me, however he got his in Japan. Does anyone know a website where I can get one?

I think you're talking about a tuner piezo pickup. It's a pretty simple little thing, freely available on this side of the planet.

I got this one at a local music store here for about 12 bucks, same price they're asking on Amazon.

FYI - I was never able to really get a good grab on my bridge with this. It didn't seem to open wide enough - I basically bought it to tear apart and make a homemade bridge pickup from anyway, and it worked reasonably well (for 12 bucks) for that.

If you google for "clip-on contact microphone" you get about 20 different products and plenty of places to buy them.

The best one I've found is made by Korg. It was about 8 bucks and picks up my low B string just fine. I got my from Shar Music online.

My Favoirte tuner is the Korg AW2 clip on tuner. No cables or awkwardly trying to find a place you can play and see the tuner. The whole thing just clips onto the bridge with a built in adjustable display. I'm sure someone else makes something similar but thats the one I like.

I tried both the Korg and the Peterson. The Korg did a better job of picking up the low E. Both had to be in just the right place on the bridge, on the E side below the string.

Talking about tuners in general, I've used a Korg CA-30 for the last 3 or 4 years with the clip on mike. It works great in a crowded rehearsal room with trombones warming up. No problem picking up the low B string.

However, a month or so ago I bought an App for my iPhone called ClearTune. The directional mike on the phone eliminates the need for the clip-on mike and it's the most accurate tuner I've ever used.

I like the Petersen strobe tuner for iPhone... that works very well too.

intelli-tuner

I use one of these... (whole clip on tuner). Works pretty well on the peg box as well as the bridge. I usually leave it on the peg box during a gig for convenience.
