Basses by Jean Auray

Does any one here have a bass or have ever played a bass by Jean Auray from Paris? I have only heard good things about them and that they are affordable. Any info would be great. Thank you.

Jean Auray basses

I think Renaud Garcia Fons plays one of his basses. Which should be quite a recommendation....

Auray sometimea advertises in magazines such as Double Bassist and the ISB Journal.

Jean was at the last ISB Convention. Great guy, great basses. The workmanship/varnish was excellent, and my ears heard a clear, cello-like tone out of the basses he had there. They weren't tubby cannons like some bigger flatbacks, but more of a solo/audition/chamber type of bass. He was very open with his ideas and designs, and generally a no-nonsense kinda guy. Hopefully he will be in Kalamazoo in June.

Unless he moved, I don't think he lives in Paris...?
