Low notes are very defined. Upper register is sweet. You can play in thumb position without the bottom falling out. The only bass I've played that a NEW spirocore weich G doesn't sound like a table saw. Plus, Sloane tuners--very nice.
bob
No, I still haven't had time to take outside pics and it's almost a year old. The dents and scratches I've put into it are gonna show by the time I get pics. Inside pics don't do justice to the finish.

I'm not saying that it's the BEST bass I've ever owned (I've owned a decent number of basses that would now be worth over $30k) but it is my favorite to play. I haven't found a new instrument that I've liked better. And this bass cost about half of the other new basses. Luciano names all of his basses. He named this one L'empatico. (empathic ) This describes it perfectly. It's like he read my mind. He was supposed to make 2 basses, one the smaller model and one the large. When I got to Turin, I found out he only made one bass.
I was a bit miffed, but as it turned out he created a new model for me that was a combination of the 2. The lower bout is HUGE (full size). The upper bout is about 7/8 size. I would usually anticipate a bass like this to be huge sounding, but slower in response. Not so here. Huge sounding, very dark in sound. VERY fast, easy response. Great guy to deal with. And it looks cool as hell. There are some videos on YouTube under my name with it in a VERY loud jazz trio context. It's just a handheld Zoom video recorder that someone in the audience had.
As my buddy Eric Hochberg said (he's played the bass numerous times) "so you're done now?
(meaning that I've stopped looking for the perfect bass) and I said "yup" | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
