Before I make it to the Classifieds

I just wanted your opinions before I actually start looking through the classified section. I am going to be getting an upright within the next 1-2 months, and I want to be sure that I understand what makes a good bass, and what brands I should avoid, or should seek after.

First off, I should tell you my preference in music since I will be going for the sound that best fit my style. My main use for this will be recording, and not as much playing out live. But, I am looking for a really nasty sound, much like the bass sound from MMW's "Last Chance to Dance Trance (perhaps)"-Check it. I really just want a dirty nasty sound, something that I can pluck hard and play fast.

If you have any suggestions I would much appreciate it.

Thanks.
Cally

Welcome!

I'll say it before someone else does. It would be best for you to delve deep into the newbie links first and then return with any unanswered questions. It would also be helpful for you to fill out your profile so that we know where you live. That will help folks guide you to dealers local to you. Finally, I didn't think that sound was "nasty."
