Bernard bass, a chip bass, but reliable?

http://www.e-sibelius.com/contrabajo...45-p-7573.html

http://www.unionmusical.es/shop/more...DB-145-3/4.htm

Does anyone know something about this bass? Itīs rather chip, and have all solid woods.

-Solid fir top
-Sides made of maple
-Ebony fretboard

I have not ever brought a double bass before, so this seems as a good one, but i do not know about itīs real quality. In Spain it costs between 450 euros (609 $) and 595 (806$) euros, depending the shop.

Thanks, looking forward for your replys

EDIT: No one knows anything? At least tell that you do not know anything about it; is helpful to know that, better than know nothing. Thanks

OK here's my opinion...

I don't speak or read spanish, but going by the price that looks like a bad bass.

Fitito have you read the newbie links?

Save your money. If you must buy online those Strunals have a solid reputation.

Peck, how are you doing?

Yes, but point out: It says that the bass is solid, thatīs my dude: How could a solid bass be so cheap? Is really solid? Is a chinese brand? Is an ethiopian brand? I donīt know anything about this brand, is so cheap and i donīt want to buy a toy, but maybe is an average bass with that price.

True, Strunals have a solid reputation, probably iīll pick one of that stuff. The problem is that, i have to buy online (my retailer doesnīt let you try the basses). If it is in the shop, ok, he lets you have a try, but if it is not in stock youīve got to buy it. This is Malaga, south Spain, and there are just a few shops (and they just sell electric instruments). So, if i have got to buy online by reputation, well, Strunal is good option.

In other hand, going with the newbies and google searchs, i have read that ``solidīī or ``plywoodīī itīs not enough: Itīs not the same a Corina Solid than a Strunal Plywood, the craftwork is as important as the material. Maybe that explains the Bernardīs cheapest price.

Thanks for your reply, iīll go on looking about this strange brand.

In the very low price ranges, a plywood bass could easily be better than a carved bass, and less likely to have problems that require repair within the first few years.
