Best DB to buy for Blues, Rockabilly and Jazz?

Hey guys,

I've been playing Electric bass for about 5 years, semi-pro, and i want to move over to Upright now. I've played upright before but have never owned one, so i'm not quite sure what to look for in a beginner bass. I've got a pretty tight budget ( up to $3000 AUD). I'll be playing mainly Blues and Rockabilly, a bit of Jazz too. What do you guys suggest as far a wood types, brands, shops in australia to buy from etc?

I'd suggest hitting up all the newbie sticky threads and work your way through all of that. There's really no easy way to answer your question. #1 priority is to contact a few instructors in the area before you go bass shopping though.
