best pieces for a beginner

Hello!

I am normally on the other side of the room here, but a friend of mine has a neice who is 14. She really is interested in the double bass and my bud asked me if I knew any pieces of music that really jump out but yet are siple enough for a beginner. He was also worried about song content.

All I could come up with was the stray cats or Jerry lee lewis...but then what do I know?

She is in a school music program but was looking for something over the summer that she might learn.

I know nothing of genre of music she prefers....a wide open request I know, but any ideas?

I would hesitate to use the phrase "very good bassist" in any association with my name
