Borrowing/Renting Bass in Colorado

Hi, I haven't posted here in a while but could think of no better resource for finding upright basses. I'm in a bluegrass band from NC and there are several gigs for which I am looking for an upright (we don't fly with the bass). We'll be supporting Sam Bush in Steamboat Springs, Colorado on Wed. Aug. 8th around 5:30. Then we have a 3 night stand at a casino in Denver (I know but the money's good) on Aug. 9,10,11th. If anyone can help me out, let me know. I apologize if this is not the proper category for posting this.

Thanks,
Greg Readling/Chatham County Line

I do know I've read one or two posts here where folks did exactly what you're doing. I wish I could remember what the exact topic was or how I found them, but you could start by trying a search in the forum on "colorado borrow" or "colorado rent".... something like that. Just make sure you allow a lot of time ahead because if there are any other events going on, pickins' may be slim.

Colorado bass...

Hey Greg, pickings are pretty slim for bass around here. We really don't havea lot in the way of bass retailers or this would be easier. However, Kolacny music in Denver does rentals: http://www.kolacnymusic.com/

They usually do long-term student stuff, and they usually don't have anything too great, but they may be a good bet to help you out.

Try the "Olde Town Pickin' Parlor." in Arvada.

Not sure if they rent but they got a couple on their floor.

Hi Greg,

Corey from Crooked Still here. I think our bands have the same agent. I always fly with my bass, but it was damaged once on flight to Denver last summer and Eric Thorin pointed me in the right direction to get a quick repair to get me through the tour. He could probably help you out. He lives in Lyons, I think, and is a great guy and a great player. Here's his website:

Good luck and maybe we'll run into each other on the road sometime.

I have rented from Kolacny music before and they were a pleasure to deal with. They rented me a carved Juzek for $80 for the week.
