Buying Guide for UB's

Okay, so I'm looking into buying my first upright bass and I need some tips and pointers for what to look for when trying one in a store. Things like the way you look down the neck of a guitar for warping and check the neck for cracks. I'm not experienced with double basses and I need to know if there are any "tests" or things I can do to make sure I'm looking at a quality bass.

I think most guys here will tell you to first check out the newbie stickies, and then play as many basses as possible, and last but not least find and get to know a good luthier. Looking for a bass is a daunting task to say the least, your best bet in finding a good instrument is to have experience, whether it's your own or someone else's.

You're logged into the "buying guide." Go to the stickies and also learn how to search the Forum. Your questions have all been answered and you can read for days...

Go to a reputable dealer and you should be in good hands.
