Can i have some help with tone?

OK so my setup is as follows:

fully carved gliga, ebony tailpiece with metal rope, and a set of thomastik spirocore medium.

firstly i should list what i like about the tone and want to preserve. the E string has a lot of depth and growl which i like, and up in thumb position the strings are very clear and the tone is great for fast lines, perhaps even a touch bright.

however i find the A and D string simply dont have the growl that the E string has. i am thinking of buying some evah pirazzis, as i have friends which have had good experiences with them, but their basses are totally different to mine.

i think the strings are what i need to change but any other suggestions are welcome. will the evahs still keep the clarity up in the top end?

i can post up a recording as an example if it helps

Before you keep throwing dollars at the problem with purchasing strings, better have your sound post adjusted.
That sounds, to me, like it should be your FIRST move.
Since you mention "growl", I can only assume you're talking pizz. How is the eveness of sound with the bow? How is the response all over the bass?
Good luck.
Due to your lack of info. in your profile, it's hard to tell much about what you're looking for...jazz, classical, favorite players...even where your at on the planet.
Anyway find a luthier.

sorry a few more details

bowing isnt an issue as the strings are too low for bowing anyways.

it is purely a jazz bass, the style i play is somewhere between eddie gomez and neils henning, and the tone im looking for is somewhere in between those two as well.

its almost there, like i said im looking for some more growl and more character to the tone on the A and D strings especially

...and fingerboard planing/dressing. That has a great deal to do with growl. As Paul said, find a luthier. A good one!

drurb is correct, growl has to do with fingerboard profile. If you want notes with big bloom (mwah) you can have your luthier flatten out your fingerboard slightly. That will do it. Once you have that profile the way you like it, you make a better determination about which strings to use.
