Can you help a first time shopper?

Okay, this is my first time posting, but I need help.
My problem is that I don't know what the first thing to look for in an upright bass. I've been playing bass for a few years, been in a few bands, but I really want to start playing upright. I have only played bass guitar, but I have tried out EUB's and they fell good, but, I really want an upright. I won't have the cash for quite a while, but if I could get tips on what to look for it would be most appreciated. Thank you very much.

if it helps any, I like a lot of reggae, ska, blues, some jazz, rockabilly, and classical (to some extent) I love the warm and rich sound you can get out of an upright. I live in Michigan and the closest upright I can get to is a rent only.
