That reminds me of Stan Ricker's bass. Anybody familiar with it? Ricker is one of the top mastering engineers in the music biz and plays a modified 5-string as a hobby. Check out the brass weights on his tuning keys, which he says are to increase sustain. Scoll down this interview for some description.

Thanks, Ken, for your nice and warming words, I'm very glad you liked our performance. Also again thank you very, very much for letting us use your two wonderful (and of course wooden) basses. Of course that kind of quality basses sound a hundred times better than CF basses at their present level. And maybe CF will never catch up. But...... I tell you I was a nervous wreck the two days we had the responsibility for your instruments. And to imagine to fly instruments like those over from Europe and back - we had a delay last night transiting in Chicago. We only just made it, but our odd size set and props didn't. So right now they're somewhere out there. If that was two 10-15.000 USD basses, I would have no nails left on my fingers by now.
This is where the CF comes in.

I talked to the people at Luis and Clark some six months ago, they said Luis would work on it this year (2006), so I expect to post a message here once it's out.
They were very kind and sent me a lot of interesting sales material, in case you're interested.

Design Harmonie bass

I'm sorry I've been a bit off the forum lately, but following up on posts 24, 119 and 121 regarding the Design Harmonie bass, I received (April 2) the following reply upon one of several inquiries to the company:
Bonsoir,
merci de votre intérêt.
désolé, le projet de contrebasse a été abandonné et Design & Harmonie a
fermé depuis décembre 2005.
Encore merci
-Denis CASTIN

So I'm afraid that's a dead end road. Company closed.
