Either should be ok, but as the guy said above, make sure there's no weight/pressure on the neck or scroll. If it's on its side make sure it won't roll over or hit against anything else in the car, especially corners or sharp edges of things.

Common sense should prevail...

We love our Rav4 - Bass PLUS 5 People!

We have a 2008 Rav4 with the third row seat, and can comfortably fit 2 people in the front row, 2 in the middle, and 1 in the third row. The seats have a 60/40 split. We looked at EVERYTHING, and I think this is the best option to maximize fuel economy, cost-to-own, and people/ cargo carrying capacity. We love it!

A late vote for the Vibe...our 2009 has the fold-flat front passenger seat and can hold a double bass on its back by folding down the larger rear seat. Still room for a passenger behind the driver, too, plus a Wizzy cab and other gear next to the bass' body.

I used to get mine into a Kancil (Daihatsu Mira) which is mini clone. Just lie the front passenger seat back & slid the double bass in.

I have a Buick Rendezvous. The SUV Tiger Woods used to advertise. Pretty amazing. With the back seat folded down it holds a double bass, small amp. a set of golf clubs and three mistresses.

Here's my vote for the Scion Xb, and there's plenty of room to double stack the left side with more tards and amps.

Do they make one with shatterproof windows?

Toyota Crown Comfort YXS10

In Hong Kong, many players don't own a car, so a taxi is necessary (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taxicabs_of_Hong_Kong). Most taxis here are Toyota Crowns, but there are a number of Nissan Cedrics -- the Crowns fit a bass in most cases, but I've found the Nissans are too tight of a squeeze for mine.

To fit my 7/8 bass into the Crown I open the passenger door behind the driver and stick the scroll in first, over the front seat, diagonally to the front passenger corner. Learned this trick from seeing Sylvain Gagnon shooting off from the ferry pier to a gig one day.

http://images.google.com/images?clie...N&hl=en&tab=wi

Most are five-passenger taxis, but with the bass only three people can squeeze in; luckily I play in a trio. Fiddler sits in front tucked under the scroll while the guitarist and I cram into the back to the left of the bass. The driver can still see out the rear view mirror, well, if he/she squints, and the guitar, amps and PA go in the trunk.

2008 Honda Accord Coupe?

Anyone have a 2008 or newer Honda Accord Coupe?

I have a 2000 Coupe that fits my 3/4. Just checking first. I don't want to take it to the local dealer, since I would not buy from them.

I have a few cars....

95 Pontiac Bonneville - lay back the passenger's seat and "thread" the double bass into position through the back seat on the driver's side.

04-06 Pontiac GTO
1. adjust passenger's seat back, down and as reclined as possible. Then just slide it in.
2. Adjust passenger's seat back, down and as reclined as possible. move driver's seat up and forward as far as possible. The bass body, turned on its side, will fit behind the driver's seat neck will cross the passenger's seat. adjust driver's seat to a normal position.(both positions make visibility poor)

2010 Camaro -I only tried it with the bag (a reunion blues) for a couple minutes, but I did not have any luck.

Mazda 3 Sport Hatchback

I had to put down my 2004 PT Cruiser. After searching for the biggest small car that would hold my DB and gear, I decided on a 2010 Mazda 3 Sport Hatchback.

By laying down one of the back seats, I can place my bass inside and the scroll just fits between the two front seats. In a pinch, I could bring two other people with me.

With 6 on the floor, it is a lot more fun to drive than the PT Cruiser and gets 34 MPG on the highway.

I've got the Honda Fit, and the back seat is divided 60/40. If I put down the wider section, I can put two large acoustic guitar cases down, then slide the bass in on top of them, with its back against the smaller seat's side and neck between the front seats, add a fiddle, banjo, mandolin, my stool, another small instrument case, two passengers and myself, still see out the windows, and shift. I've only got 5 on the floor, but the mileage is 42+, even with a full load. I'm really happy with it.

Interesting topic, I am looking to buy one of those new Nissan Leafs (hate the name, but like the concept). The Leaf toured our part of the country, but I was unable to go down and see it. Wondering if anyone else has had a chance to see it and wondering if they think a standard sized 3/4 bass would fit into with little hassle. Currently I can get my bass into my Camry with the passenger seat set all the way back (no problems).

Mercedes C Class (C280T - 1997) here and the DB (lying on its back with the back seat down) has snug fit with the scroll on the arm rest between the front seats.
