What is the benefit of having a carved neck on a ply bass? Why am I asking? I'm going to check out a bass and while corresponding with the owner and asking him what sort of bass it was (craved, ply or hybrid etc.) he told me that it was a ply bass with a craved neck.
BTW, feel free to bump this thread to another part of the forum if it doesn't belong here as I wasn't sure if this or the "Set Up And Repair" was the right place to post.
Thanks!

The bass and neck is craved. If the seller says craved seven times you will buy the bass without even knowing why.

Thing is that I am in the market for a bass and as stated on this forum so many times, one should try every bass possible. And that's exactly what I am doing. I tried real nice 7K basses as well as cheaper ply. When I do decide to buy a bass, it will go first to a luthier for an inspection etc. Just as one would bring a used car to their favorite mechanic. |

That'll throw 'em. And if it doesn't, ask whether you can get them to put on a ply bridge, too ... |

I was wondering if a craved neck has 666 carved into its headstock or maybe a medusa/Freddy Kruger head. lol |

It makes my bass sound like my bass only louder.

I have a shirt that contains perlon, and it makes me look just like me, only louder!
Doesn't improve things much, though ... | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
