| The only thing I was able to find was the NY Craigslist ad. Because of that, I'm going to assume that you live in the NYC area. You've got several good bass shops in your area, and many more within a few hours of you. You should seriously consider visiting several of these shops and playing the basses they have that fit your needs and are close to your budget. A bass purchased off of craigslist is a crap shoot at best, you could easily spend more than you paid for the bass just to make it playable.
On the other hand, you might spend a little more at a shop up front, but you'll probably wind up with a better instrument, and you'll have the support of the shop behind it.
