Chris Wood bass...

Hi there people!

I saw Medesky, Martin & Wood last friday and Chris Wood played this weird looking double bass. It looked like a 3/4, but the lower bout was smaller and "funny looking".

Anybody knows how makes these basses?

P.S.: There was a guy last night on the Eurovision Song Contest who played one as well... "Unplugged" of course, ha ha.

Sorry I can't comment on the double bass, but I LOVE MMW!

I saw them a couple of years ago in nyc(long island i think) doing a special all acoustic double show. I saw both shows =D

On the website Chris Wood's bio says he plays a 1920 German bass, but I wouldn't be surprised if he has used a Czech-Ease before, and from your description thats what it sounds like it was.

Hi guys!

Thanks for quick answers, nice to find out about that bass quick.

I'm thinking about selling my NS-Design CR5m to obtain one of those basses, they sound fantastic and take up much less space than 3/4 sized basses.

A shame that I don't live in the US, they're cheap in your country.
