Clamp-on capo on C extension?

Hi everyone, I have a fingered C-extension (no gates except at the E). I've been thinking about installing some gates (like basscapos, for instance), but I'm a little hesitant because I don't need them very often.

I had the idea of using a guitar capo on my extension to close the notes, but it doesn't work with the guitar capos I've found. What I'd like to know is if anyone has had any luck finding a removable (i.e clamp on style) capo that works on the their C-extension? Ever seen anything built for this purpose?

Basically I'm trying to create a poor-man's version of Arnold's sliding nut...

Yeah-it worked great on my old bass as a D latch. YMMV depending on the configuration of your extension.

My bass teacher does this. Works great for him!

Tried a shubb banjo capo and another one by kyser, no luck.

I think that my extension is not deep enough to get a good clamp. I can put it on there, but it buzzes. Thanks for the suggestion!
