He wants to get a travel bass to help make logistics a little easier, but is unsure of what to get. He asked me to get some information about the czech-ease bass, the kolsteins busetto travel upright, and the eminence bass. Any things like tone, construction, or any problems with either one would be helpful. Thanks a bunch guys!

The New Standard folks are reputedly at work as we speak on something as well.

If I were considering purchasing a travel bass, I would rank them according to playability and sound with the Czech Ease on top, the Kolstein in the middle, and the Eminence on the bottom. Not surprisingly, this is also the order of ranking of acoustic sound that each puts out, and the size and amount of space each takes up when in the road case. |

They make one hellofa bass. It's down to the point where they'll exactly match your upright spec wise, and the base price is around 3k. |

Those instruments seem awesome. (alter-egos: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=159557 ) Other High end options are: http://www.barryguy.com/travelbass/t...s02/index.html
and: http://allbasse.com/accueil.htm
Both of these are carved instruments. The ALL bass is a beautiful instrument with up to 7 strings plus a set of sympathetic strings.
My Problem with the Czech-ease Is that it is expensive and it is plywood. It was a little "Close but no cigar" for me. I prefer more Eubish qualities than plywood.
I ended up with the ergo for the price and quality: Ergo Megathread part I
The fact that is different keeps it from gathering dust until I travel where the Gage bass I'd only want to play if I had to. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
