I really want to upgrade my bag this year.

I really want to upgrade my bag this year. | I have a single bow case that fits in the bow compartment. It's a big nylon covered hard case like this one: http://www.gollihurmusic.com/product...BASS_BOWS.html
It's tight but it works. Lately I'm using a padded bow sleeve as it's lighter.
There is room for a Wheel, a big music pocket that zips open level with the floor when the bass is on it's side rather than standing up like Moradian. There are two accessory pockets on the front side opposite the bow pocket that are pretty huge.
I have never wanted more space in a bag. |

Nobody told me that there was a 10 o'clock in the MORNING, too...

Man, I thought NYC was all concrete, I mean, I'm seeing living plants in that picture.....
Maybe one doesn't need to be so tough to live there, then.
We got Mesina bags way out West in Oakland too. Barry Green's shop carries 'em. Best Music Repair.

Put it on my bass...fits like a coat of oil varnish. PERFECT fit, and dense padding. He put backpack straps on for me, and they are REALLY well made, it seems. Looks like seat belt material. They work great, and the pads for the straps are nice and thick (read:comfy!) TONS of handles everywhere, and IN THE RIGHT PLACES, which some bag makers don't do.
He put some extra pockets on the front. One for my bass wheel, another for the endpin. A couple of extra pockets for little stuff. LOTS of storage room. No complaints about storage.
When we talked initially, I told him I have done more than my share of corner repairs on basses over the years due to lack of protection in the bag. He graciously made me 8 thick square pads that velcro to the inside of the bag that will protect the corners as I load it in/out of my Jeep.
So far, I am tickled to death with my expreience getting a bag from Dave. He's a very good communicator, and nailed the dimensions of my bass with really high shoulders. For 400 bucks shipped, I feel like I won the lottery for my bass! Big Boy's gonna travel in style and comfort tonight!!

After giving Dave my measurements he told me a standard 3/4 bag would be a good fit so that's what he sent. It fits like a glove. It is just a bit snug over the bridge but other than that, it is an absolutely perfect fit.
The 3/4 Mooradian was several inches too big in every dimension so I'm happy.
The quality is superb! The handles are in just the right places and are nicely stitched, giving a feeling of security. Pockets? Big and plentiful. Putting the zippers on the sides rather than the tops is a nice touch because normally they are accessed with the bass laying down.
The blue color is a nice color of navy and the handles are black. The pic on his web site is more like royal with navy handles. Dave also stocks black and burgandy, but the blue is cool.
Dave sent the bag with the understanding that it is a trial run. I can return it, requesting changes and not pay until it is the way I want it, although it's great the way it is. He is a great guy to do business with.
Highly recommended.

I need a new bag too. Pity the Messina website isn't that great, makes me think: "If they don't care enough to put together a good website (without typos and grammatical errors), then how much do they care about the quality of their product?".

Any idea if he ships to Canada?

He makes great double bass covers.
The more I look at the thing and how easy it is to use, the happier I am to have trusted him. Ed Fuqua, Toad, Bribass and others here whom I trust like the bag, so that means a lot to me.
The ONLY thing I would change would be to add a handle on the upper back to secure the bass as I zipper around the bottom. Considering the bag is his standard 3/4 with standard pockets and handles, that ain't bad at all. I may send it to him to have that little change made.
I will try to post some pics of the bag within a day or so.

I took the pics right after bringing the bass in from the rain so there are some droplets on the bag. The blue looks brighter due to the flash.

All the feedback on the Messina bags has been great, I'm not suggesting they aren't great bags. However, if I came across the website without having the benefit of reading the feedback here, well I wouldn't consider a Messina bag.
That's why I said it's a pity.
He really should hire someone to revamp his website. If it's a great product, it deserves a good website and since it is a great product (by others' accounts) I'd like to see Dave have continued success. Same goes for any good product or service, I wish it success as there is too much garbage in the world that gets hyped and continues to sell well, perpetuating... Okay. I'll shutup.

Choosing to buy from him was a leap of faith for sure.
FWIW, this guy: http://www.glenncronkhite.com/ agreed to make me a bag as well but his website wasn't any better. Due to arthritis, Glenn isn't making custom cases anymore but WILL make bass cases IF he has templates in a size to fit your bass.
In the end, David's product is lighter and a bit less expensive.
