You go to Search and enter Czech-Ease and if you go further down you will see a thread entitled Czech-Ease. It is a duplicate of this thread here discussing the same topic and could be merged with this thread that was just started.

I think I was mesmerized by that Kolstein in the shop and wanting one of those but hey, I rarely ever travel with a bass and if I do it's by car.

I left the shop before you decided on which bass but a few weeks later I was in the shop again and saw your trade-in (Kay as I recall?). I'll be seeing Jon in a week or so........you could always import him to Hangzhou but good luck making contact with HIM by email.
Yes, Roger, I do remember you! It was great having you there at the shop that day to play the basses while I listened, always good to hear what they sound like from a distance.
I decided to get the Czech-Ease with the Eb neck, easier to get to some notes up there. But really don't find it difficult to go back to basses with D necks. I think I'll be able to make another trip to Shen's store in Shanghai in the next week or two, and know he won't have any trouble setting the post on the Czech- Ease. That bass should be easy enough to manage on the train, about a two and one half hours ride from where I am currently playing. I brought back another of Shen's basses, this time a hybrid about three weeks ago. The train was crowded, not easy to be trying to deal with a regular sized double bass in those conditions. Guess that's another vote for the Czech-Ease! Please say hello to Jon Peterson when you see him. If I ever get back to town I'll be sure to go see him. So many terrific basses for sale in his shop, not to mention the fine work he does. I had to make the rounds of all the luthiers in the greater LA area when I brought my Shen Willow home from China last year. Took the bass to Lisa, Gary Stine, Lemur and then finaly to Jon, looking to get the "perfect" set-up for the kind of playing I do. Jon was the one that really got it right, that bass really sings now, loud, but plays like butter! I miss it a lot here in Hangzhou.
