Czechoslovakia bass

I was curious if anyone knows anything of upright basses from Czechoslovakia, I found no other markings on it other than on the metal plate below the tuners in the smallest letters it says Czechoslovakia.

The lighting isn't extremely well, you can't really make out anything on the plate it is hard enough in person to see. I did notice the strange circle on the back of the head stock but I have no idea if that means anything.

I think you might need to lower your bridge a little so it's right in between the middle of those F holes - You could cause damage to the top plate of your bass the bridge is not placed near the soundpost (within a couple of inches at least).

Nice looking bass!

Yeah, I just picked it up a couple of days ago. I am not familiar with uprights at all. I found that one at a pawn shop of all places. Thanks for the tip, the wood is stressed a little bit at the top of the f holes. Do you have any idea where I can look to maybe find out who what or when it was made?

Strunal

Seems to be a Strunal from the period when the two countries were united. You didn't mention if it is a flatback and if it is fully carved or hybrid. Some more information would be valuable.

I am a complete novice but I believe it is a hybrid fatback. The top is definitely plywood.

Well, if the top is plywood then it's almost certainly not a hybrid. On hybrids it's the top that's carved. Other parts may or may not be solid, but the top is where hybridization starts.

Chances are you've got an all-ply. Of course, if it's a "fatback" instead of a flatback, the hog drippings may affect the tone in interesting ways.

Thanks for the info, as I said I am a complete novice and was going purely on deceit of my eyes.
