Database for old instruments.

Does anybody know if there exists some kind of database for registering old double basses? Like cozio.com, but without the violins etc.

I had wanted to start a W. Tarr registry but never got around to it.

Try "Austro-Hungarian Empire". That is the name historians and poli-sci nerds (myself included) use for it. You may have better luck.

Is it possible that the similarity you're talking about is more a result of cross-border cultural diffusion rather than a common monarchical ruler? While the Austro-Hungarian empire did cover many important musical cities (Prague, Vienna, and Budapest among them), most of the areas conquered by the Austro-Hungarian empire retained their cultural identity (language, customs, some laws etc.). I would assume that style in instrument making would be among the traits retained by these kingdoms (or what would later become independant states).

Unhappy it depends

This is more a critical response than a helpful response. Grow up, try to help, not criticize.
