Dave Holland double Bass?

Hi all I just saw Dave Holland playing an upright bass, but realized it's not a full bass, it looks like it's missing the bottom section. I thought of no better place to ask than here, what is this, some sort of a hybrid of a double Bass? Or something else? He's playing it on a 2009 gig that's on YOUTUBE called 5tet, there's about 8 sections or parts.
It almost looks like a cello's size, or soemthing like that. He has a great Jazz band!!!

You have to hunt around for the price of these, but Gollihur has them starting at $3,750 - not exactly an inexpensive alternative to the real thing. Then again, their selling point is superb sound combined with super-portability, not affordability. I'd love to try one.
