Just signed up!!! (been lurkin' a while, though)
I'm a 'drummer' since age 7, but play lots of different instruments including elec guitar, bass, piano, a little vibes, a little of anything else lyin' round the house.
I run a small home studio where I record friends, family, friends of friends, friends of family, family friends, and other people (who generally do or don't have friends and/or family).
It got nicknamed 'Beefy Sound' due to my heavy handed use of 'low end' in my mixes. So that's the Username correlation.
LOTS of instruments around the house, but this is the first one where I definitely feel I need an instructor. (I'm in Naperville, Illinois if anyone knows anyone)
Have a bass arriving in about 3 mo's from the lovely people at Upton, and am currently renting one to get started.
Can't wait!
And any and all advise will be welcome.
Mark

Rich has a studio in Forest Park and teaches at College of DuPage, Triton, and St. Xavier U. When not teaching, he's a free lancer in Chicago, playing mainly jazz. Rich also plays, and teaches, tuba and euphonium. He's also a regular Aebersold (sp?) faculty member.

I've taken some photography coursed there before.
His background seems perfect. I actually first learned drums by studying Jazz/BeBop from age 9 to 17 (39 now).
Thanks for the help.
If anyone else is local to Chicago or the Western Burbs, please let me know.

His name is James DiGirolamo, and Double Bass is his main instrument for playing professionally (Orchestra as well as Jazz).
Seems perfect. First lesson tomorrow.
Thanks for the help, anyway.

And I mean in the end all of us musicians strive to be, if not are Perfectionists and It is really easy to go back and analyze your recordings or second guess your habits in the past. SO when I was 12 and 13 I wish I had practiced harder and not coasted on what I had already learned. |

I wish I had your attitude when I was 16! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
