Smile E.R. Schmidt #60 Upright Bass

Hi everyone,
I am new to the double bass world, but have been playing electric bass for 13 years. A friend's sister has an E.R. Schmidt #60 3/4 bass with a bow and case for sale and is asking $1200. I believe it's plywood? Does anyone know anything about this brand's double bass quality? I've searched everywhere so this is a last resort, hoping someone will know what this bass may be worth, or where I can find information on the manufacturer, other than it's made in Germany. Thanks!

Sorry I don't know anything about that maker, but I would suggest you have a luthier look the bass over. 1200 is not a lot for a bass, but 300 more would get you into a new Shen bass that many guys seem to like.
