My 2 cents
don't get a half size.

it's not really more portable than a 3/4, you won't have any problems getting used to a reasonably sized 3/4(I'm 5-6 and I have a 3/4 wilfer, and the size is %100 non-issue), and the resale for 1/2 sizes is pretty bad. Chances are it won't have anywhere near the volume of a comparable 3/4, and your options for a 3/4 under 2000 bucks are much greater.

Oh, and fill out your profile so people know who theyre talking to. The info you'll get will be more tailored to you, and it's just the nice thing to do.

+1. I would also recommend staying away from 1/2 sizers.

where is the center of the usa?

Hello,

I just stumbled across your post. I am curious, where is the center of the usa? I am in St. Louis.

I am playing a 1/2 size bass I got on ebay about 5-6 years ago. I like it quite a bit. Everyone who hears it says it is a really good sounding bass. I was told last week that it would have been a bargain at twice what I paid for it. That having been said, I do not know the manufacturer. I have also put a few hundred $$ into it to get it to sound this good. I am also starting to consider stepping up to a 3/4 hybrid so that I can get a larger sound and a wider freq range. I haven't tried to get a 3/4 in my car but I suspect it will be a challenge since the body of the 1/2 takes the whole passenger seat and the headstock sits near the back window.
