May I ask why the taper from top to back, and not the other way around? Or, no taper at all, I suppose...

Just about all basses taper at the neck block, wider in the front and narrower in the back, and that causes the back of the bass to be a bit narrower than the top in the upper bout.

I notice that busetto shapes haven't been represented. I've been wondering about any difference that specific style makes.
