Endpin = Better Sound

I have heard that the endpin can effect the instrument sound. Has anyone found this to be true? I know this is true of the tailgut but the pin?

I have. Replaced the stock Christopher endpin with a high-quality one and the change was noticable.

check "setup & repair" and search "endpin" and you'll find more different endpins and opinions than you might have thought existed

I'm waiting for that new "twisting" type that's made of carbon fiber to come out. JR, for one, has the cello model out now and the bass version is supposed to be forth-coming.

This is actually good to know as it has been verified that the endpin on my bass is the worst endpin that has ever been created.

Ever.

Okay, so why do better endpins sound better? Do they provide a firmer connection to the floor?
