In fact, the only description i was given of the bass before I bought it was "The world's ugliest upright". My buddy Joel and I decided to refinish it ourselves in his garage.
Here's the results - http://www.joelsprayberry.com/upright/
Let me know what y'all think!

Myself Id prefer the high school woodshop look over backyard bodyshop vibe.
I think it looked best blonde. Ida prob just clearcoated it at that point.
Whats the deal with the f hole covers? Was that just to keep the paint outa the inside or are you gonna leave it like that? |

Although, it looks like it actually has a nice flame, and I'm a sucker for a blond.... |

We play everything from the Police to Hendrix to U2, but we do it all Bluegrass style. We've got an upright, a banjo, and a guy playing the washboard. For the type of venue that we play, this upright fits right in.

Although, we don't have a banjo or washboard, we have me on upright, 2 acoustic guitars, fiddle, lap steel (also acoustic) and piano. We're working on "Little Wing" tonight. We've worked some Pink Floyd and Doobie Brothers into the set list as well.

-Thick creme binding around the top edge, with the sides and back stained brown.
-creme painted bridge, and one of those Slap-King polished aluminum TP's.
-Neck binding.
-Black scroll.
-Gamba shape.
Somebody should do it.... |
