Englehardt In Canada

Hello peeps,

Just wondering if there are any Englehardt dealers in Canada. Or should I just order from Fretwell?

It seems that everytime I find an upright bass on Craigslist, Kijijii, or Talkbass I' m interested in. It gets sold right away. Maybe uprights are high demand. Specially in Toronto.

But anyway, hope I find one. Been looking for one in almost 3 months now.

thanks,

Fred

I suggest you contact Tom Englehardt directly to learn who is distributing his basses...I would guess that B&J Music in Missassauga a major distributor could order one for you..Or try Long and McQuade or Steves...
Those larger operations may be dealing directly with Englehardt.

Thanks Bob. I know L&M and Steve's don't carry them but I'll try B&J.

They don' t usually sell upright basses there. Only electric uprights.

As far as Dave is selling one Korean made DB at the moment. That' s it.

Engelhardt in Canada

I bought my Englehardt through Bob Golihur (www.gollihurmusic.com) and had it shipped to me in Ottawa.

The Strunal is a real nice bass from L&M(canada). Maybe a bit more, but in my opinion worth it.

Remember the initial setup is going to cost.
My daughter tried to play with the original bridge, a cheap pickup, etc. for about a year. The Strunal (hybrid) is a real nice bass, L&M are real good with payments also.

Good luck

Which Long & Mc Quade? As far as I know they only carry Schoenbach. Which are crappy basses. I used to rent them.

I played Strunals from Heinl and Soundpost though. They are nice indeed when set up nice.

Thanks!

L & M also sell a few 'J. Heinrich' branded, Chinese-made basses. Some are okay, some terrible, and the odd one is magically wonderful, but that last seems to come along only rarely. Seems J. Heinrich is a big shop (like most Chinese shops) and they have quite a wide range of talent working there. Wide range of wood qualities as well.

Just did some old research of what I bought from L&M:
From an old post:

I bought a Schoenbach from long and Mquade (Winnipeg).. The sticker inside says it is a Strunal 5/20 D 3/4. (This one is a hybrid).

I don't know if this is going to help or not?

It's a pretty nice bass!!!

Cool! Thanks for the link. I just message the guy.

My wife is originally from Winnipeg so it might be great to check out if the price is right.

Just got a message back. He said that the bows isn't worth much so he ain't changin' the price.

It's all good though.
