ES9 aging question

I've been noticing as my Es9 get's older it's developing two very distinct lines up both left and right side of the bass (on the front, one centered on eacdh f hole). About an inch thick top to bottom of the basses body. The lines are now very dark. Maybe they are around the seams in the plywood??? I have no idea, but it's not exactly a good looking thing. Anyone else have this going on? Wierd.

Trees only grow so wide, so they place pieces of veneer side by side on top of the plywood to make pieces of wood wide enough to make the front (and back) of the bass. It's a seam in the veneer. Also I think the orientation of the wood makes this phenomenon more or less apparent (grain of the tree upside down, or right side up, or one of each).

Just never had a plywood bass that stripped like this. Looks like someone took a brown marker to it. What causes this? Seems strange it's just at the seems. Is it acid from the glue at the edges.
