Female Double Bass Players

I'm trying to find a UK-based female double bass player, ideally from a more jazz/improved/roots music background rather than straight classical for a potential big band project in spring 2009.

The only female DB player I am aware of is Chi-chi Nwanoku - who would be fantastic to have on board but is out of my league financially

Can anyone help?

Yes I am in the UK, London-based but the specific location of the potential player is not so important as funding would take into account travel & accomodation costs.

The project is still in the v. embryonic stages, currently there are six professional committed musicians on board (piano, clarinet, saxophone, vibraphone, cello, percussion). The likely dates would be around Easter 2009, so potentially during the last week in March/first week in April for creating new music, with a public performance at the end of the week. The first venue would be in London - capacity 300-500 depending on seating/non-seating arrangements - there is an in-principle agreement with this venue regarding this project.

I'd be looking to have a mini-tour with events in Manchester, Birmingham & possibly Newcastle - however, at this point in time, a dialogue has yet to be had with specific venues in those cities.

Any interested parties should either reply here with contact details or PM me for further information.

I have a question, why does it need to be a female? is it an all female project?
