Hi there
I know I posted
this thread some time ago, but a couple of weeks after my teacher convinced me to try out jazz bass. Let's just say I couldn't have been more happy for listening to his advice!
Just did my double bass exam and I got an A

(Norwegian high school level) You can hear some it here:

Previously I've rented a bass, a cheap Höfner actually, a OK hybrid bass, and that's the bass you can hear at my myspace.
But now I got my own 20 year old Meinel, made in Germany, fully hand carved!

I'm simply in love. The tone is amazing, so deep it makes the pictures on the walls in my room shake, yet it's sooo tight. The sustain is actually very good! The higher tones is so bright and singing. The sound when playing with a bow is also very nice. It's really easy to play! The Höfner i rented was a 3/4, this Meinel is 4/4, yet the Meinel neck is actually thinner, and has less spacing than the Höfner.
Here she is:
I'm so in love with this beautiful instrument
