Flying from USA to Israel w/ String Bass via US Airways

I am presently trying to book for myself and my travel bass a flight from Philadelphia to Israel with US Airways. The policy on their website states: Cellos and bass violas will only be accepted as seat baggage. (http://www.usairways.com/en-US/trave...cialitems.html). I was also told via an email from US Airways that I could check the bass as luggage as long as it met their weight and height requirements (http://www.usairways.com/en-US/trave...epolicies.html). My bass is smaller that typical 3/4 bass in a flight case (71.5" x 28" x 17" and under 50 lbs) Right now, I am going to see if I can get a hold of a supervisor from US Airways who can give me a clear answer.

Have you heard of any bass traveling storied through US Airways or Continental (another possible option)?

Isreal is easier to get into than out. I would have your promoter get you a bass. It is fun place, though, great food and the museums are real good.
