Francois LeJeune bass

So, Ken, here are some photos of my old French bass. You asked me to post them in the "old French bass" thread, but I've looked all over and can't find it so I'm just putting them here.

I don't know a lot about the history of this bass. It was restored at Kolstein's in the early 90's, so maybe they know more from the previous owner. At any rate, it seems likely that the label is accurate, although extremely faded: Francois LeJeune, Paris, 1765ish. The neck has been replaced a few times; the scroll grafted at least twice and may not be original; the shoulders have been obviously cut down, probably due to damage, and the two upper ribs and one c bout have been replaced at some stage.

World of Basses says they have a LeJuene. Looks like I smaller bass. How does it sound?

It is on the small side, but the string is just over 41 inches. I love the sound, and I've never really had a problem being heard, even in a large orchestra. The cut down shoulders make it very comfortable to play, standing or sitting, which is good for me because I'm not that big.
