Franz Heisler bass?

Is anyone familiar with DBs made by Franz Heisler? Price seems a bit low for what it claims to be. Is it from Eastern Europe or China?

Not much on google.

Thanks for any info!

Beware-

For anyone looking at a Franz Heisler bass, be aware that it may appear to be German or Eastern European by labels and "maker", but is probably Chinese in origin. I got one of those mirrors with LED's on them as suggested, and on the inside of the top, right around the f hole is a Chinese label.

In my case, I went ahead and bought it because it was in good shape, sounded good, and was carved rather than laminated. With bag, bow, etc, I felt I got a good deal. The guy who I bought it from paid too much for it, though. He bought it from a big name bass store in LA.

Thanks again for all the resources and advice!

~Tad
