Götz pictures of my bass

I finally took some pictures of my bass, wanted to share with the community. Two weeks ago I got a call from a casting agent to be a bass player in scene for a major Hollywood film production. Along with getting sized for the 1953 era clothing and haircut, the agent wanted to see pictures of my bass, she also wanted pix from my bandmates' instruments (sax and drums). So I went in the backyard and finally got around to taking some pix, there's a previous thread about my '68 Conrad Götz bass here:

'68 Conrad Gotz - what should I offer?

a film starring Renee Zellwegger, Chris Noth and the guy from Will & Grace and of course Kevin Bacon, who seems to be in every film. It was neat to be on the same set with these actors but the amount of standing around waiting, doing nothing for 8+ hours doesn't interest me so I doubt I'll do it again. ...and we had to fake play because the set was mic'd.

kills me that they need to see pictures of the bass, presumably for historic authenticity... and then they have you fake playing. the dum dums.

I've done the routine before, but it's something kinda neat to show your friends and family later on. Some good actors in yours though. Mine opened in drive-ins around the country.

I "held a bass" in "The Alamo" a few years ago. It was a long day, but at least the musicians got paid decent scale wages since we were hired through the AFM. The extras did not make out so well.

Yeah as musicians on the shoot we got what's called in the industry a "bump" extra money for providing our instruments. It's an interesting industry or should I say union. It's very strong. If you work overtime you get paid, if you have to smoke in a scene you get paid extra, if your lunch isn't served within X hours, you get paid more. The musician's union isn't nearly as strong. And I noticed that they estimated a little extra time on our timesheet for the time it takes to get to our car from the set, in a way very civilized. But the standing around was ridiculous, should've brought that Tolstoy book

Nice Don't see Götz basses very often.

I have a Conrad Götz 1957 bass, Gamba shape. Love it. Tons of volume in that thing!
