German Bass???

Hey folks,

I saw this ad: http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-s...AdIdZ235649730

Just wanted to make sure if it' s a German bass for sure. What do you guys think?

I don' t think it' s worth $1900 either. I was going to offer $1200 but the person said that it' s firm.

thanks,

Fred

Labels can lie, so why don't you contact Heinl's and ask them about this bass. Maybe they will tell you where they got it. That bass could very well be worth the asking price depending on condition and sound.

if it was distributed by heinl, i imagine it's a bass worth checking out. they are VERY picky about the instruments they take into their shop. any time you can find a functional bass for under $2000, its generally worth taking a look.

as far as the asking price, it seems pretty fair. i would go check out the bass. the most important thing is that the bass feels right to you. check for any cracks/open seams, as well as buzzes when playing through the entire fingerboard. i agree that you should pay what you feel the bass is worth, however like i said it's rare to get a functional bass for under $2000. if you were to shoot a low-ball offer like $1200, you could miss out on a great bass.

That looks like a typical 1960's or so German ply bass to my eye. If the condition is good, the price seems low, not high.
