There's a small wooden bracket sticking out of the acoustic panel, which is wrapped with towel material, so it doesn't scratch the bass at all. But before I had the acoustic panel, I just had a bigass hook sticking out of the corner, and that held both ends of the bungee cable just fine..as far as the back of the bass, as long as you put the bass back gently, it works great.

WARMBATON - Good eyes for an old fart! I try to keep the room stable both for the bass and the piano. It's a pain, but well worth it.

I've used both Meisel's and Ingles' stands at numerous trade shows, where things get bumped alot. Both have been fine. Here's a nice looking one that I found on Henry Boehm's site:

Here's a pic. Not good for the bumpy environment, but real pretty in the living room I'll bet.

I have the Ingles stand and I am very happy with it. It is fairly easily transported and seems to be as stable as anything I have ever used.

I also like the fact that the lower arms that hold the bass can be raised to a height that allows the endpin to extended quite a bit and the bass still sits in there easily enough. I play with my pin in the sixth notch. I'd guess that would be about a foot or a bit more extended, and it can still be placed on the stand.

I do have one beef with it that has cost me a few really nasty scratches. The neck cradle is designed pretty much like a guitar stand. The two forks that hold the neck are covered with some sort of foam padding, almost like pipe insulation. But, the padding doesn't go all the way across. There is a bare spot in the middle that has a sharp edge of metal exposed.

In order to use the Ingles with the endpin out as far as I have it, you have to raise the cradle arms pretty high. So high, in fact, that the bass is fairly snug in the stand. There have been a couple of times that bass has caught on the lower arms when placing it on the stand, and it got a bit wedged in the stand. The sharp metal edge in the neck cradle made a lovely deep gash in the heel of my bass. It has happened twice. It sucks.

Otherwise, the stand works great. I just need to file off that edge and add a bit of additional padding. If wise, I would have done it after the first incident.
