Gunter Maibach

Greetings, everyone.

Is anyone familiar with the Gunter Maibach fully carved bass? Where are they made, quality, and so on? I've tried searching here and online, but can't seem to turn anything up, except that they are sold by Brook Mays. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thumbs up

You prolly already saw this. Maybe a contact with this seller might show results.

Thanks.
Yes, this add is the reason I'm asking. I will try to call him, but it does not seem that he knows much more either per our email exchange.

I did, however, find out that the line is/was an Eastman product, but this line is no longer on their homepage.

I guess it could be a discontinued item?

Looks like the usual scam to me - give your Chinese instruments a German name and viola! - bigger profits.

On the Brook Mays site there is lots of talk about the instruments being built in conditions just like those that existed 100 years ago in Germany but they don't say where they are made.

The name "Gunter Maibach" is owned by "SCHREIBER & KEILWERTH MUSIKINSTRUMENTE GMBH" which sounds pretty German but.....they're based in Dallas.

Maybe they named the brand after their Mercedes!

Interesting. Thank you. I am trying to figure out a way to try it out, but it's quite a distance away. Just when I decide to get serious, there seems to be a shortage of good basses around here.

I hate when that happens. Put the word out and be patient and you'll find the right bass for you.

Thanks. I got bitten badly by the bug after attending the Texas Bass Symposium this last weekend. Monster players and super nice instruments! It's time.
