has anyone heard of a "universal" bass?

i just bought a new bass and the sticker inside says that it is a "universal". it sounds great to me, the best bass that i have owned. i don't know much about names, i have a palentino plywood box with strings, and i sold a engelheardt (sp?) a few years ago. to me this is a really good bass. i paid $900 usa for it, a stand, and a padded bag for it. i like the bass and i think i got a good deal on it for the sound. it's a laminate bass. sorry about rambling, i just wanted to know if anyone has heard of this bass. thank you

My upright is a "universal" bass as well. Made in Korea, bought 10 years ago. A great instrument!
