Has anyone played an Upton Bass Shen?

Okay here's another request for info. This place might be harder for me to visit since it's in Connecticut.

Does anyone have any experience with these basses?

I played one they worked on that had been worked on by the client first. It sounded alright but I have no way of knowing how much the client screwed it up before they got it. It had a nasty finish.

However, I own an Upton hawkes ply bass, and it's by far the best bass in its price range. So if you like Shen, I can't imagine the guys at Upton doing anything but improving it. They're the best.

If you are interested in a Shen you dont have to go
clear cross the continent to find one!

Much as I support Upton, we need to keep our half
of the country in business as well.

I am certain a bit of research will uncover places
no further than say, the SF Bay that will have
Shen's available.

We have a resident Shen person who I am sure
would be more than happy to direct you to the
closest resaler

Good Luck,

Talking Upton Bass

I have an Upton Hawkes if you want to play one
and see or compare it to something else. It is in
my opinion a very good plywood for the money.
PM me for my phone number if your interested.

hey guys ...

been lurking about and researching before I get my first DB. I'm about 80% certain its gonna be a shen sb80. Im planning on mostly just playing at home for fun etc but if I really get into it I'd hunt down some folks and put together a rockabilly/psychobilly band

I havent found a local dealer (San Francisco Bay Area) ... could Mr Resident Shen dude please let me know what dealers there are in my area. I could definately buy from the online guys that have great reputations but buying locally is way tempting cuz frankly I'm impatient and would rather not wait the few weeks.

anywho ... a PM or email with some local (SF Area) shen dealer info would be highly appreciated.
